Work

A mix of client work, unpaid work for organisations I know, and personal builds. Each project is labelled as client, unpaid or personal work, and I show it with the permission of the clients and organisations involved.

Melanation member portal

Unpaid work for a group of community organisations · 2026 · members-only system, no public link

A website and member portal for a creative community (Artz & Vybz CIC, ProCreArt, MCMG and the Creators Collective): public site, sign-in, onboarding for new members, a member area and staff admin views.

  • Access controls so members only see their own records, with staff access set by role.
  • Built-in checks that prevent two bookings for the same slot.
  • Automated tests for how the system behaves, plus an automatic check that no passwords or keys have been left in the code.

For your business: a members, bookings or client portal. Website with a portal, from £2,445.

Musu K. Powell: author website

Unpaid work for an author · 2026

A portfolio for fantasy author Musu K. Powell: her stories, a journal, an illustrator collaboration page and a newsletter sign-up. Mobile-friendly and simple to maintain.

For your business: a clear site for a sole trader, freelancer or small brand. Business website, from £1,445.

Home page of musukpowell.com: a headline, a short story teaser and a book cover graphic on a soft pastel background

Business-development operations dashboard

Client work for TeraJoule Energy (freelance contract) · 2026

An internal dashboard that links opportunity records to their source documents, deadlines, work queues and review decisions, with separate views for directors and for operations.

  • Python scripts that generate snapshots and index the documents.
  • Proposal-reference navigation, kept reliable with workspace checks and link audits.

For your business: one place to see what needs doing, by when, and who decided what. Automation, from £1,245 or Data dashboard, from £1,495.

Specialist data and energy work

For analysts and energy teams. The same careful approach applies to smaller jobs.

PLEXOS Scenario Explorer

Client work for TeraJoule Energy (freelance contract)

A Streamlit application that lets analysts compare 24+ energy scenario models and read annual, daily and interval results straight from cloud storage.

  • Built with Python, AWS S3, PyArrow, Plotly and Folium maps.
  • Metadata filtering, interactive charts and map views, so analysts can narrow scenarios and inspect results by technology and location.

For your business: a dashboard that turns a pile of files into something people can explore. Data dashboard, from £1,495.

Energy-system modelling tools

Client work for TeraJoule Energy (freelance contract) · 2026

Tools that support energy-system studies, built to be repeatable and checkable.

  • PyPSA to PLEXOS conversion: a Python pipeline that maps network models into the team's schema, with audits of inputs and results, reconciled energy balances and portable model packages for handover.
  • Model visualisation and study interface: an interactive 3D multi-carrier model view built from PLEXOS data, linked to charts of hourly inputs and solved outputs, with a seven-chapter study interface.
  • The Artemis Report: a public energy study of how a four-person lunar settlement could run through a year, with a digital report, interactive charts and a 3D atlas. I worked on its data and visualisation tools.

For your business: careful data work, checked at each step. Energy and data engineering, by quote.

Overview page of the Artemis Report: a headline asking what it takes to keep a lunar settlement running, beside an image of the Moon

More projects

Personal builds that show how I work.

An interactive comparison of electric and petrol or diesel vehicles, with figures tied to dated sources. Python and SQLite data pipeline, Next.js front end, tests and automated checks. A prototype, not a buying guide.

EV vs ICE Intelligence Lab: sliders for annual miles and ownership length above summary tiles and a cost against emissions chart
